PROVIDENCE – Simulia, a division of Paris-based Dassault Systèmes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Paris: DSY), today announced a new, independent fluid-structure interaction (FSI) solution that pairs its own Abaqus finite-element analysis software with CD-adapco’s Star-CD fluid-dynamics software.

The solution – MpCCI open software, from Fraunhofer SCAI – establishes a coupling between Abaqus and Star-CD, enabling the two software packages to work together for a wide range of FSI problems.

“This coupled solution … will dramatically improve collaboration between fluid dynamics engineers and structural engineers,” said Dennis Nagy, VP of marketing and business development at CD-adapco.

MpCCI makes it easier to study the influence of fluid flow-induced forces and heat transfer on structural integrity, as well as the impact of nonlinear material response on fluid flow.

In other news, Dassault Systèmes yesterday said its annual revenue grew 24 percent, to 1.16 billion euros or 1.51 euros per share. In constant currencies, revenue growth was 27 percent. Net income was 179.8 million euros or 1.51 euros per share, up 2.5 percent from 2005, as the company digested two major acquisitions and completed a one-time tax restructuring.

Among other 2006 highlights, said Bernard Charlès, Dassault’s president and CEO, “Simulia grew twice as fast as the overall simulation market.”
