SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The winners of the 2007 business, citizen and educator of the year awards will be honored this Friday by the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce during the organization’s 75th Anniversary Dinner.
Receiving the Chamber’s 2007 Annual Recognition Awards will be:
• Business of the Year, Damon’s Hardware of Wakefield.
Owned and operated David and Toni Chappell, who purchased the business in 1982. Damon’s was chosen for its knowledgeable, personal service and its consistent generosity to the local community, the Chamber said.

• Citizen of the Year, Beau Jones, president of Images Design in Wakefield. Jones has been active for more than a decade in South Kingstown CARDS, the Wakefield Rotary, the Courthouse Center for the Arts and many other organizations, to which he has often contributed his time, creativity and professional resources.
• Educator of the Year, Bob Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh, who is retiring from the school district this year, after 34 years as a teacher, athletic director and boys’ soccer coach, has served as a friend and mentor to generations of students at South Kingstown High, the Chamber said.
The Chamber’s annual dinner will be this Friday, at 6 p.m., in Amalfi’s banquet room at Village Inn in Narragansett. Reservations are $50 per person.
