PROVIDENCE – Visitors to the Ocean State and residents looking for a local getaway will find deals at a number of luxury hotels throughout the state in the second half of January during Hotel Week RI.

The newly-launched program is part of R.I. Commerce Corp.’s bid to boost cold-weather tourism, an effort that chief marketing officer Heather Evans began pushing when she arrived at the agency this spring.

“In addition to providing an affordable escape for guests, this program allows us to make a positive economic impact on the state by putting ‘heads in beds’ during what is typically one of the slowest months for tourism,” Evans said.

Twenty-two hotels in Newport County, Providence, South County, Warwick, Block Island and the Blackstone Valley are participating in the promotion set for Jan. 18 – 31, according to Commerce Corp.

Hotels will offer prix fixe nightly rates ranging from $100 to $400, with some offering complimentary amenities such as spa treatments, dining credit, room upgrades and activities.

Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn in Westerly are among the week’s participants, as well as The Break in Narragansett, The 1661 Inn on Block Island, and Hotel Viking in Newport.

The initiative is a result of collaboration between Commerce Corp. and the state’s six regional tourism districts.
