STOCK CULINARY GOODS CELEBRATES OFFICIAL OPENING
PROVIDENCE, RI, January 17 — Stock Culinary Goods, a new store devoted to kitchen and culinary tools, gifts and resources, celebrates its official opening Tuesday, January 29th at 4pm with an open house attended by Mayor Angel Taveras.

The store aims to be a destination for those who love food and cooking. With everything from hand-turned rolling pins from Vermont to RI-made copper pots, terrine molds from France, espresso makers from Italy, aprons from Georgia, letterpressed place cards from Oregon and vintage cookbooks, it brings together items that are well-made and well-designed to help all levels of cooks in their preparation and presentation of food.
More than just a retail store, Stock also offers cooking demos, classes for children and social events with other food professionals. Frequent collaborators include Andrea Sloan from Campus Fine Wines, Dave Lanning from Dave’s Coffee, and Leah Cherry from Skill*It who teaches kids’ classes.
“I wanted a welcoming place where the food-obsessed like me could gather to talk about food, gain inspiration and find the tools they need to go home and be creative,” said owner, Jan Faust Dane.
Prior to owning Stock, Dane was the Director of Culinary Education at the Ocean House, and a frequent contributor to Rhode Island Monthly, Edible Rhody and author of eight books for the international guidebook series, the eat.shop guides.
“Working on the eat.shop guides, which stressed the value of local and independent artists and stores, as well as good design, helped guide my product choices,” says Dane. “When possible, I love to find things made in New England and the US, or if not here, than at least where you expect them to be from, such as my paella pans, which come from Spain.”
Stock is located at 756 Hope Street in the Hope Street Village, which is also home to Seven Stars Bakery, Olive Del Mondo, Pizzico and numerous other restaurants. “It’s where I always wanted to be,” says Dane. “Providence has a tremendous reputation for food and dining out and on Hope Street I get to be in the thick of it.”
