NARRAGANSETT – Rhode Island Housing and the Narragansett Affordable Housing Corporation today will celebrate will celebrate the transformation of a former summer camp into the 40-unit Clarke Pointe Condominiums.
At 1:30 p.m., officials from the town, state and federal government and local nonprofit organizations will gather at Clarke and Point Judith roads to cut the ribbon on the affordable-housing development, created on the site of the former Camp JORI. Among those expected to attend are Town Manager Jeff Ceasrine; Mike McLoughlin of Narragansett Affordable Housing; Noreen Shawcross, executive director of the R.I. Housing Resources Commission, a division of the state Department of Administration; Nancy Smith Greer, a field officer for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); and Richard Godfrey, executive director of Rhode Island Housing.

The condos – in two buildings on a 3.75-acre parcel – will sell for $105,800 to $264,800, according to Narragansett Affordable Housing. Thirty-two of the units will be age-restricted, for residents 55 and older. The project, next to the town Recreation Facility, offers easy access to tennis courts, wooded walking trails, basketball courts and an outdoor pool, as well as the Narragansett beaches and shopping districts.
