The team’s efficiency has allowed for the development of wide-ranging campaigns and projects, from communications and marketing campaigns to development of new programs to help entities within the public, private and nonprofit sectors, Beauregard said. For example, Systems Change Strategies developed a rapid-response texting campaign for the R.I. Department of Health that would send residents a text message with a link if they wanted the overdose-reversing drug nalaxone mailed to them. The company also got on the front lines to help the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result, the Cranston-based strategic consulting firm saw 287.2% revenue growth in 2022 compared with 2020. Systems Change Strategies last year brought in $839,408 in revenue.
Beauregard said his team is good at putting together messaging testing, focus groups and interviews with audiences to make sure their clients make the impact they’re hoping for. He said he believes forging relationships is key, with both clients and the communities you’re working with.
“We have a wide scope of things we do, but I think we seem to have the greatest growth and interest among our clients … around things they can’t necessarily get from other firms,” he said. “I think a lot of folks appreciate the modern perspective we have on methods for communication.”
During the pandemic, Systems Change Strategies was well positioned to take on more work since the company primarily already worked remotely, Beauregard said. The team also began to market itself and more companies began to reach out to them in return.
Most of the company’s early projects during the pandemic were focused on COVID-19. The team helped facilitate vaccine clinics for medically vulnerable people in Rhode Island and assisted hundreds of small businesses in applying for government funding. The team also helped lead the city of Providence’s pandemic recovery efforts, including an outreach plan asking citizens how they wanted to use the federal American Rescue Plan Act funding, running oversight board meetings and creating a report of the results so city managers would know how community members wanted the money to be spent.
“Not only did we help our clients and new businesses transition to this new reality, during the pandemic [we] truly rose to the occasion for our clients, and through it all built a reputation as a nimble and responsive firm that got clients results regardless of the challenges we faced along the way,” Beauregard said.
Beauregard’s team also helped manage then-U.S. Rep. David N. Cicilline’s 2022 campaign, including ballot placement, staff recruitment, field organizing and communications.
Beauregard is optimistic about seeing future growth within the private sector, especially with small and medium-sized businesses in Rhode Island. His team has already created and implemented a five-year legislative advocacy campaign for an industry trade association that was in crisis.
“We do work nationally and regionally, but one of the greatest strengths for us, working with organizations that are based here, is we really just have an intimate knowledge of the landscape here, whether it’s the political landscape or community organizations or even the distinct culture and geography of each of Rhode Island’s 39 cities and towns,” he said. “For a firm as young as ours, we have very deep connections to Rhode Island and most of its communities.”
The company also helps private-sector clients figure out their strategic objectives, provides advice regarding public relations and uses all its experiences in various industries to help clients decide how to move forward.
Beauregard’s team knows how to handle spreadsheets and vast amounts of information and data. He believes clients appreciate the level of detail that Systems Change Strategies provides.
“We are a team of doers, big thinkers, organizers and community-engaged people. We know how to design campaigns that help our clients’ message resonate, programs succeed and businesses grow within their priority markets and customers,” Beauregard said.
