
WARWICK – Traffic at T.F. Green Airport declined to 323,476 passengers for the month of May, a 0.2 percent decrease year over year, according to the R.I. Airport Corp. Friday. The airport has also recorded a decrease of 6,655 passengers to 1.44 million passengers year year-to-date, a 0.4 percent decline year over year .
American Airlines recorded the largest percent uptick of T.F. Green passengers in May with an increase of 1.6 percent year over year while Southwest Airlines reported the second largest percent gain of 1 percent year over year, which was the largest nominal increase of traffic for any carrier (1,506 passengers).

Southwest continued to be the most traveled airline at T.F. Green in May, accounting for 47 percent of its market share which was 152,092 passengers. American ranked No. 2 with a 26 percent market share and 84,201 passengers in May while Delta had a 12.2 percent market share and 39,401 passengers.
United Airlines recorded a 20.3 percent loss of ridership at T.F Green year-to-date in May, a decline equivalent to about 20,000 passengers over that span, the largest nominal and percent decrease of any airline at T. F. Green. Delta, JetBlue and TACV, a charter airline to Cape Verde, each recorded passenger losses greater than 5 percent.
This traffic report comes on the eve of the recent expansions the R.I. Airport Corp. introduced this year, and as such, none of the expanded routes or carriers are reflected in this report. R.I. Airport Corp. has announced and introduced nearly 20 new nonstop flights in 2017.
