M. Teresa Paiva Weed | Hospital Association of Rhode Island president
As a state senator and lawyer, my career has taught me that we can accomplish more by working as a unified voice. I have learned to look for the goals and values that people have in common rather than the distinctions that set them apart.
The members of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island share a common mission. At times, their vision on how to achieve their goals and define success may vary, but they all desire to provide the best possible care for patients.
They are all committed to their communities and dedicated to their staffs. However, they are forced to operate today with scarcer resources than in the past and are responsible for maintaining the financial health of their respective organizations.
HARI provides a forum and opportunity for representatives of these organizations to collaborate, improve and address obstacles. The association has built coalitions to address matters related to public relations, finances, public health, emergency preparedness and many other issues facing or managed by the hospitals in our state. They work together with one focus – the patient.
More and more each day, hospitals are extending their work beyond the four walls of the institution. They are working not only with other organizations, but the community at large to improve health in Rhode Island.
It is my goal to strengthen these relationships. By talking to each other and working together, we can achieve unprecedented success for our state.
