Tech Collective, RWU to host GRRL Tech

BRISTOL – Tech Collective will hold its eighth annual GRRL Tech Interactive Technology Expo on Friday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rogers Williams University.

GRRL is short for Girls Reaching Remarkable Levels. During the free event, approximately 400 high school girls from across Rhode Island will attend nearly two dozen hands-on science, technology, engineering, mathematics and biotechnology workshops.

In addition, one of the girls attending the event will be awarded a four-year full scholarship to attend Roger Williams.

“The goal of GRRL Tech is to interest and engage girls in the dynamic and fruitful opportunities available to them in technology fields,” said Giselle LaFrance, a spokeswoman for Tech Collective, a nonprofit alliance of Rhode Island information technology and biotech companies.

Registrations for the event has been closed due to high demand.

The workshops will be led by Rogers Williams faculty members and employees from local technology companies including Amgen Inc., Atrion Networking Corp. and EpiVax Inc.

This year the event is co-sponsored by Tech Collective and Roger Williams University.
