Theatre-By-The-Sea sold to independent producer

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – An independent theater and musical event producer who operates 10 movie complexes in New England, including an eight-screen theater in South Kingstown, last week bought the historic Theatre-By-The-Sea in Matunuck as well as the Rehearsal Hall/Costume Shop in Wakefield from FourQuest Entertainment Inc.
Bill Hanney, of Massachusetts, said in a news release that he is committed to continuing the theater’s 74-year-old tradition of professional shows every summer. He said he and his team would announce their plans for the theater shortly, and they would send letters to everyone on the theater’s subscriber database as well.
The release says FourQuest partners Laura Harris and Renny Serre had undergone a “long and challenging” for an “appropriate” new owner. They said jointly that they have “great confidence” in Hanney’s ability to maintain quality summer theater in Matunuck.
