NEW BEDFORD – IT services firm ThinkTech Computers Inc. is aiming to tap into the prevailing zeitgeist with the launch of a contest it is calling “The Technology Bailout.”
The New Bedford-based company plans to give away $50,000 worth of free hardware, network upgrades and support services to a business owner on Massachusetts’ South Coast, an area it defines as including both Fall River and New Bedford. The contest also will feature prizes for three runners-up, valued at $5,000 apiece.

“Are we really giving away $50,000 in IT upgrades, hardware and support? You bet your tukas,” ThinkTech co-owner Pamela Viveiros said in a statement announcing the contest.
The idea came from her husband and co-owner, Nathan Viveiros, who said it was “time someone give a bailout to the little guy,” she recalled. “I knew he was onto something there – and that’s when we decided that the ‘someone’ [needed] to be us,” Pamela Viveiros wrote.
ThinkTech was fortunate enough to be in a good position to run a giveaway – the company saw sales grow 127 percent last year, according to Viveiros.
“Our mission is to help restore hope to our local business community, and give one business the opportunity to take this $50,000 technology bailout and make something positive happen with it,” she wrote.
The contest, which began this month, is also sponsored by Xerox, Cymphonix, HP and Microsoft.
The entry form, rules and other information are available at www.BailoutContest.com. Entries are due by 5 p.m. on April 17. The winners will be announced at an event on May 5.
All applicants will receive a free network audit from ThinkTech, as well.
