WOONSOCKET – Thundermist Health Center is reporting that nearly 400 of its employees received the Moderna Inc. COVID-19 vaccine by the end of 2020.

The community nonprofit’s front-line health care workers, many of whom have cared for COVID-19 patients, were at the head of the line for their first dose of the vaccine.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Thundermist says its providers have cared for almost 12,000 patients in its respiratory clinics and administered nearly 11,000 COVID-19 tests across its three locations in Woonsocket, West Warwick and South Kingstown.

“Our employees have been on the front lines of this crisis. Their bravery, dedication and sacrifices helped many in our community during the last 10 months,” said Jeanne LaChance, Thundermist CEO and president. “Vaccinating our health care workforce means our nearly 700 employees will continue to be able to serve our community and help limit the spread of COVID-19.”

All employees who received the vaccine in December are scheduled for a second and final dose in late January.
