PROVIDENCE – Chicago Distribution Center, one of the nation’s largest distributors of scholarly and professional books, has signed an agreement with Providence-based Tizra allowing Chicago Distribution publishers to sell subscriptions to online books.
The joint venture was announced last week and will begin with a pilot this summer with the University of Chicago Press and other Chicago Distribution publishers and will use the services of Bibliovault, the Chicago Distribution’s digital repository for nonprofit publishers.
The Chicago Distribution/Tizra service will combine the data conversion, shopping cart, print fulfillment, e-commerce and reporting systems of the Chicago Distribution with the Web publishing and delivery capabilities of the Tizra Agile PDFTM hosted application. Agile PDF creates branded Web sites, while collaboration with the Chicago Distribution enables publishers to integrate sales reporting for online and print publications. •
