Too many employees working for the state

To the editor,
Your Top List ranking of Rhode Island employers on March 5 lists state government, with 16,000, as the largest by far – nearly 30 percent over No. 2.
So none of the employees of the largest employer in our state makes a product or provides a service that brings in any significant revenue. On the contrary, the vast majority if not all of them are paid by taxing the productive residents of the state.
This can’t be a good thing for Rhode Island’s economy.
