WOMAN TO WATCH CREATIVE SERVICES:
Mckenzie Kapsimalis, Tric Agency Co. founder and chief marketing officer
TENACITY, DETERMINATION, hunger to succeed and pride in her work prompted one professional to follow family members’ footsteps and embrace entrepreneurship.
In 2023, Mckenzie Kapsimalis launched her content-and-creative-marketing firm built on diverse experience. Aiming to power communications with energetic ideas, she condensed “electric” to name her company Tric Agency Co. in Coventry.
“I came from a family of business owners and entrepreneurs,” said Kapsimalis, the company’s founder and chief marketing officer. “I never once felt like I couldn’t do that. My family members were telling me, ‘If this is what you want to do, you can absolutely do that.’ ”
The Dighton-native-turned-Rhode Islander, who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Salve Regina University, forged her career creating and managing social media content for top country music media outlet New England Country Music.
One highlight was her video capturing concertgoers at a Kenny Chesney concert chanting “Kenny” and singing with the musician, which generated more than 200,000 views. Even the venue, Gillette Stadium, helped it go viral.
“I love provoking emotion out of consumers,” she said.
Another formative experience for her was with an East Providence-based advertising agency where Kapsimalis led marketing, public relations and promotions for several events. Among them was The People’s Festival of Art, Music and Culture, known as PVDFest.
From 2022 to 2024, Kapsimalis crafted all social media content leading up to and through Providence’s annual, two-day creative arts festival.
Kapsimalis’ live reports of the premier event counted among tactics helping boost web traffic during each four-month campaign. In 2024 alone, web traffic realized a 3,700% increase in data sent and received by visitors to PVDFest’s website.
Social media following also spiked each year – by 783.5% in 2022 – signaling viewers’ desire to engage beyond post-specific likes and shares by following PVDFest.
Kapsimalis’ pet philanthropies include Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. In 2024, she designed a sweatshirt to raise money for the nonprofit.
“I won’t stop until I feel I’ve accomplished something,” Kapsimalis said.
