PROVIDENCE – The Trinity Repertory Company announced the lineup for its 54th season Tuesday. It includes a six-play subscription series as well as its traditional production of “A Christmas Carol.”
The season will commence on Sept. 12 with the launch of “The Prince of Providence,” a play by George Brant based on the book about Vincent A. “Buddy” Cianci by former Providence Journal writer Mike Stanton. The show will be directed by Taibi Magar and run through Oct. 20. Trinity Rep commissioned the project in March 2018.

The season run of “A Christmas Carol” begins on Nov. 7 and runs through Dec. 29. The classic will be directed by Kate Bergstrom. This is the 42nd annual production of the production. The show is separate from the six-play subscription series.
The rest of the lineup includes the following:
- “Fade,” written by Tanya Saracho, run is from Dec. 5 to Jan. 5
- “Radio Golf,” by August Wilson, from Jan. 30 through March 1
- “A Tale of Two Cities,” based on the Charles Dickens novel, from Feb. 20 through March 22
- “Sweat,” by Lynn Nottage, from April 2 through Mary 3
- “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” by Stephen Sondheim, from April 23 through May 24
Trinity Rep said that subscription packages are now available for the upcoming season.
