DARTMOUTH – A cohort of University of Massachusetts Dartmouth students have completed offshore wind training offered under a publicly funded workforce training initiative, the university announced this month.
UMass Dartmouth announced the training program, “Closing the Experience Gap,” in June 2022 alongside a $373,048 grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and a $375,000 match from BankFive, BayCoast Bank and Bristol County Savings Bank. Under this funding, the program could reach more than 120 students, the university said in that announcement.

Launched in spring 2023, the 10-week, 200-hour program includes students across a variety of majors but focuses on engineering, business, law, biology, marine science and marketing. Interns typically earn $25 per hour.
