The national media outlet on Friday launched a nationwide poll of the top 10 attractions in each state, asking the public to determine which site will be triumphant.
As of Monday, the ten contenders for “Best Rhode Island Attraction,” are:
- Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum (Bristol)
- International Tennis Hall of Fame (Newport)
- Touro Synagogue (Newport)
- Block Island
- Newport Mansions (Newport)
- Fort Adams State Park (Newport)
- Cliff Walk (Newport)
- Ocean Drive (Newport)
- WaterFire Providence
- Roger Williams Park Zoo (Providence)
The Bristol-based mansion, which currently tops the leader board, was described by USA Today as “one of the nation’s best examples of the Country Place Era.” The description also noted that the “45-room mansion remains much as it once was, filled with family heirlooms and furnishings. The estate gardens showcase a collection of rare and unusual plants.”
Currently, the attraction with the most votes in Massachusetts is Old Sturbridge Village and in Connecticut Mystic Seaport has the most votes, to-date.
Participants may only vote once per day and the poll is open until Tuesday, October 10th at 11:59am EDT.
