WESTERLY – A tentative agreement has been reached between Westerly Hospital and both locals of The United Nurses & Allied Professionals Inc. on a three-year contract effective July 1, 2014.
A ratification vote of the full union membership will be held March 24. The UNAP executive board approved the agreement last week.

The current contract, which was negotiated prior to the acquisition of Westerly Hospital by Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, expires June 30. It was a one-year agreement.
Both parties have agreed to withhold any specific details about the agreement until after the ratification vote.
There are two UNAP locals at the Hospital. Local 5075 represents about 200 nurses and allied professionals. Local 5104 represents approximately 220 service, maintenance and skilled-maintenance employees.
“This is a significant step,” said Barbara Resnick, UNAP Field Representative. “The agreement provides a fair economic package for our members.”
“We recognize the challenges our Westerly employees have endured,” said Bruce D. Cummings, President and CEO of L+M. “The agreement is fair to both sides, and it provides another level of stability in the Westerly community.”
