CRANSTON – Lisa Churchville announced Tuesday that she will retire from her position as president and general manager of WJAR-TV NBC 10 on June 30.
Her replacement has not yet been named, a spokesman confirmed.
Churchville was general manager of NBC 10 when it was bought by Media General in 2006. She began her career in broadcasting in 1986 at NBC in New York City and served at other network stations, including WMAQ-TC in Chicago and WCAU-TV in Philadelphia.
“Working in local media has been a great privilege,” said Churchville. “For over a decade, I have had a front-row seat and an opportunity to become involved in this community.”
“Today, due to the hard work and commitment of so many people, the station is stronger than ever,” she continued. “The continuous newsroom produces five hours of live news and breaks news throughout the day on multiple digital platforms. NBC 10 serves a broader audience than ever before and the station is well-poised for the future. I am very proud to have played a role in the station’s rich history.”
