Rhode Island housing authorities slated to get federal funding

WASHINGTON – Rhode Island housing authorities across the state will receive more than $668,000 in federal funding through the federal Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficiency Program this year.
The program, run by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides funding to public-housing authorities so they can work with welfare agencies, schools, businesses and other local partners. Among other things, the program helps provide child care; transportation; education, job training and employment counseling; substance abuse treatment and counseling; household skill training; and homeownership counseling.
The housing authorities receiving HUD funding are:

&#8226 Central Falls Housing Authority: $63,453
&#8226 Rhode Island Housing: $60,000
&#8226 Housing Authority of the Town of East Greenwich: $55,431
&#8226 Town of North Providence Housing Authority: $55,151
&#8226 Coventry Housing Authority: $50,556
&#8226 Warwick Housing Authority: $41,000
&#8226 East Providence Housing Authority: $38,764
&#8226 Town of Bristol Housing Authority: $36,360 &#8226
