BOSTON – Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley is launching a public-awareness campaign focused on workplace rights which includes multi-lingual print and radio advertisements, as well as a specialized informational Web site.
According to a release from Coakley’s office last week, the goal of the campaign is to educate workers throughout the state, and particularly those for whom English is their second language, of their rights under the laws.
Central to the public awareness campaign is a specialized Web site, www.MassWorkRights.com, which provides information on proper compensation, including minimum wage, overtime pay, tips and holiday/vacation pay and meal breaks.
In addition to the public awareness campaign, the office also recently released several publications designed to provide education to workers about their rights: a pamphlet titled “Guide to Workplace Rights and Responsibilities,” a new Massachusetts wage and hour laws poster and a guide for laws pertaining to working teens. •
