PROVIDENCE – Mobile technology startup MoFuse will be the featured presenter tonight as the Providence Geeks, the local networking group for information technology and digital media professionals, gather for the last time until September.

The company – whose clients include Harvard Business Review – was founded in August and opened its beta version to the public three months later. The Providence-based startup is “currently the fastest growing mobile-site publishing network and one of the top mobile publishing networks in terms of traffic,” according to its Web site.

Providence Geeks’ monthly sessions usually attract more than 100 people.

Jack Templin, a Providence-based technology consultant, said that he and Geeks co-founder Brian Jepson have been pleased at the way the group has fostered a sense of community in the sometimes disparate local world of info-tech and digital media.

“We were optimistic, but at the same time I think it’s safe to say we’ve been very pleasantly surprised,” said Templin, who also oversees the R.I. Economic Development Corporation’s popular RI Nexus initiative. He added: “I think it really tapped a need. I think there were a lot of organizations and individuals doing really interesting things, but people weren’t aware enough of one another.”

Tonight’s free dinner-optional event will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at AS220, 115 Empire St., Providence. Casual dress is fine; food and drinks are available for purchase at the adjacent bar and Taqueria Pacifica. After a one-month hiatus, the group will resume its regular monthly schedule in September.
