PROVIDENCE – Steve Kass, director of communications for Gov. Donald L. Carcieri, has been temporarily assigned to the R.I. Emergency Management Agency.
“Kass has not been permanently transferred to the public information officer position at the EMA, but is being temporarily assigned to the EMA to fulfill an immediate need to improve the agency’s overall communication efforts,” the governor’s office said in a statement this weekend.
He will serve as the agency’s public information officer for an undetermined period, but will remain an official member of the governor’s communications staff.
“This temporary assignment will in no way affect the governor’s plan to reduce his staff by the end of fiscal year 2008,” the governor’s office said.
