APC buys NetBotz for $31 million

American Power Conversion (APC) has acquired NetBotz Inc., an Austin, Texas-based maker of computer network security management products, for $31 million, according to a company statement released Oct. 4.

The purchase adds NetBotz’s environmental and video monitoring products to APC’s existing line of sensor systems for large data centers and server rooms, the statement said.

Based West Kingstown and founded in 1981, APC is a worldwide provider of computer infrastructure equipment with sales of $1.7 billion last year, the company said.

Founded in 1999, NetBotz had been privately held with 2,700 customers worldwide, according to the statement.
