North Safety Products has won a $4.4 million contract from the U.S. Department of Defense to provide protective rubber gloves against biological and chemical hazards.
The company has re-opened a North Charleston, S.C., plant, which previously made similar hand protection equipment, to manufacture the gloves. Production of the gloves, made of butyl rubber, began in February.
