Lumenis Ltd., the maker of medical lasers that changed its name from ESC Medical Systems Ltd., will shut two manufacturing plants and five sales offices as part of its acquisition of Coherent Medical Group.
The company’s Norwood, Massachusetts sales office will be one of the five offices closed worldwide.

In addition, the company will close manufacturing plants in Seattle and Tel Aviv and sales offices Cambridge, England; Paris, Tokyo and Munich. Small staffs will be retained at some locations until the sites are vacated, the company said in a press release distributed by PR Newswire.
Lumenis, which changed its name in September, didn’t specify how many jobs would be affected. Officials couldn’t be reached immediately for comment. Lumenis, based in Yokneam, Israel, has been combining offices since it purchased rival Coherent Inc.’s Medical Group unit in April.
