PROVIDENCE — Blue Cross & Blue Shield Rhode Island has unveiled a series of 10 initiatives, including the establishment of a Health Care Collaborative, to address the concerns of individuals and businesses regarding health care.
The initiatives stem from Project Blue Print, a year-long process in which Blue Cross surveyed participants about health insurance needs.

The collaborative is expected to begin work within 60 days and will team the Woonsocket-based CVS Corp. and the Colleges of Nursing and Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island. It will specifically look at nursing shortages in Rhode Island, as well as prescription drug costs.
According to BCBSRI President Ronald A. Battista, the vast majority of those surveyed through Project Blue Print reported satisfaction with their health insurance and were not looking to change plans. Rhode Islanders do seem to want variety in the type of coverage available, he said.
