Pinkerton opens office in Providence

PROVIDENCE — Pinkerton Security has opened a new office at 275 Westminster Street to serve as its state headquarters. The office is one of 475 the company owns in the United States. Pinkerton is based in Westlake Village, Calif. In 1999 Pinkerton merged with Securitas AB, the largest security company in Europe. Securitas acquired Burns International Services Corporation earlier this year. The result of the mergers and acquisitions has produced a company that serves 30 countries with more than $5 billion revenue. Pinkerton was founded in 1850 in Chicago by Allan Pinkerton, whose reputation grew with his service to the Union Army during the Civil War and throughout the West in the post-war years.
