APC joins new energy-efficiency alliance

WEST KINGSTON – American Power Conversion today announced it is a founding member of The Green Grid. The new group, a new consortium IT specialists, says it is “dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and computing ecosystems.”

APC brings a history of technical expertise in data-center infrastructure and power management. The company will serve on The Green Grid’s board of directors, along with AMD, Dell, Hewlett- Packard, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and other companies.

The Green Grid’s charter calls upon IT industry leaders to increase power efficiency in data centers across the globe. The group aims to develop platform-neutral standards, measurement methods, processes and technologies to improve energy performance of data centers around the world.
