NEWPORT, RI:(June 2, 2013) –– Newport Shipyard’s brand-new 500 Metric Ton Marine Travelift arrived at their downtown Newport, RI shipyard and marina last week. Seventeen tractor-trailer trucks drove the Travelift from Sturgeon Bay, WI, where the Marine Travelift company is based, to Newport Shipyard and will begin assembly on Monday, June 3rd. The purchase of this new lift, which will replace Newport Shipyard’s existing 300 Ton Marine Travelift, was necessary due to larger yachts visiting New England. “This new lift gives us the ability to haul-out larger yachts and attract more business to Rhode Island,” said dock master Eli Dana. “As both power yachts and large sailing vessels continue to grow, the need for a larger lift has become necessary,” he said
