PROVIDENCE — Attorney General Sheldon Whitehouse has filed a seven count civil complaint against the owners of a Providence home labeled a “House of Horrors” by the Childhood Lead Action Project last October.
The complaint, filed against Lillian and Albert Coleman of Milton, Mass., alleges the couple has failed to abate lead hazards and are maintaining a public nuisance at their 146 Althea Street property. Three children — ages 5, 10, and 12 — who resided at the property have been diagnosed with lead poisoning.

According to the Attorney General’s office, Whitehouse asked the Providence County Superior Court to impose the maximum fine allowable by law or in the amount required to abate the property.
