Bank Newport provided a $4,000 grant to fund the replacement of waterfront docking at Camp Yawgoog Reservation to meet the growing needs of the camp’s aquatics program.
Bank Newport President and CEO Thomas W. Kelly and Executive Vice President and CFO Andrew C. Hewitt joined Narragansett Council Boy Scouts of America Scout Executive David S. Anderson and Camp Yawgoog Reservation Director Thomas J. Sisson at the new dock and waterfront to celebrate its completion. The new waterfront area will allow scouts to earn a variety of water-related merit badges throughout the summer.
Annually, more than 7,000 Boy Scouts of America youth and leaders from the Narragansett Council and New England attend Camp Yawgoog Reservation, the largest summer camp facility in southern New England.
The Narragansett Council serves more than 19,000 young people in the state of Rhode Island and 18 communities in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Weekly attendance at Camp Yawgoog, which is located in Hope Valley, includes more than 900 scouts and leaders. •
