WARWICK – Biomedical Structures has upgraded its facility with a new “clean room” for high-density weaving and advanced braiding infrastructure for polymer and wire materials, the company announced on Sept. 13.
The company did not disclose the cost of the new clean room.
Biomedical, a provider of biomedical textiles for medical devices, has made six new hires during the last month for the project and plans to add six more shortly.
“BMS has consistently worked to remain at the cutting edge of medical-device product development,” said President John Gray. “These expanded capabilities for more advanced engineering and production of our biomaterials will allow us to further innovate and deliver at the level our customers have come to expect.”
The new clean room is designed to handle finer PET fibers, DSM Dyneema Purity (a material used inside the human body) and other mono and multifilament fibers, especially those of lower denier.
Biomedical has expanded its braiding capabilities with new 16-carrier and 48-carrier braiding machines. •
