The John E. Fogarty Foundation Community Service Award was presented to Dr. Siegfried Pueschel who pursued clinical activities, research and teaching in the field of developmental disabilities, inborn errors of metabolism and Down syndrome. He has lectured both nationally and internationally, has authored or co-authored 15 books and has written over 250 scientific articles.

The late Congressman’s only daughter, Mary Fogarty McAndrew, is Chair of the Fogarty Foundation Board.  Her devotion to her father’s legacy has resulted in a strong granting agency that has provided thousands of grants throughout its history.  “We are a public charity that needs to raise money in order to continue with our mission”, says Mary Fogarty McAndrew.  “We don’t have a huge endowment and in order to continue to support our agencies we must raise money”, commented Fogarty McAndrew.
