How has COVID-19 changed your industry? COVID-19 has had a unique impact on each company we’ve invested in, and each new company that we meet. It has been disruptive and challenging for everyone. A few companies, in the e-commerce industry for example, have even benefitted, as consumer adoption of online ordering accelerated. As investors in private companies, we now face the extra challenge of trying to decipher and quantify COVID-19’s impact to understand which effects were one-time in nature and which are permanent.

What moment changed your life more than any other? Getting accepted to Georgetown University as a senior at Toll Gate High School, and the huge financial sacrifice my parents made so that I could attend.

What is your greatest attribute that you bring to your job? Intellectual curiosity. I lovemeeting new people, learning about new companies and industries, discovering trends in data, and thinking about team dynamics. The constant variety and continuous learning that comes with investing in private companies keeps my tank full.

What led you to pursuing a career in your current industry? Private-equity investing requires versatility. I was drawn to the combination of interpersonal skills and quantitative skills that are called upon daily.
