PROVIDENCE – Citizens Bank has received praise for its digital investment-advisory service called SpeciFi.

The Providence-based bank last week announced it won the Celent Model Wealth Manager Award for New Platform. The bank launched the digital investment service in September, making it the first large regional bank to offer such services, according to a press release.

“At Citizens, we are committed to leveraging innovative digital technologies that create better end-to-end experiences in the areas that matter most to our customers,” said John Bahnken, president of Citizens wealth-management division.

SpeciFi is one in a handful of digital services the bank has started offering in recent years. Citizens, the largest Rhode Island-based bank, is a subsidiary of Citizens Financial Group Inc. Celent is a division of Olver Wyman, a global research and advisory firm that specializes in financial-service technology, according to the release.

“Adding SpeciFi to our wealth-management offering is another way we are delivering on this commitment to integrate market-leading digital solutions into the bank’s overall suite of financial products,” Bahnken added. “We are honored by Celent’s recognition of SpeciFi, the value it provides to clients and the team’s hard work in bringing it to market.”
