Providence, RI- This September, The Creative Communications Club of Providence (CCCP) will begin its thirteenth season. Started in 1996 by local advertising/marketing specialist, Bob Mariani, the CCCP is one of the longest surviving organizations of its kind in the Ocean State.
The Club meets monthly and provides a forum for professionals engaged in a wide variety of creative endeavors such as graphic arts, design, writing, photography, painting, sculpture and performance arts.
At meetings, CCCP members exchange ideas, explore creative issues, host guest speakers, and get involved in community events. The Club’s basic mission is to explore the widest possible range of creative processes being practiced in and around our region.
Since the Club’s inception, guest speakers have included Barnaby Evans, creator of Waterfire; Brian Jones, tap dancer/choreographer; Fran Kelly, President and CEO of Arnold Worldwide Advertising; Lon Cerel, magician and balloon artist; Bob Colonna actor/comedian; Marketing Director of Mass MoCa, Katherine Myers; and artist/illustrator, Tom Sgouros to name just a few.
The CCCP has also hosted numerous site-specific events at places like the Museum of American Illustration in Newport, the new RISD Library, and the Russian Sub (before it finally sank).
This year’s roster of guest speakers will feature such creative pros as Photo Journalist, Francis Giles; and Raye Lynn Mercer, Founder of the Franklin School of Performing Arts, among others to be announced.
Unless a CCCP meeting is site-specific, the Club normally meets at the Hi-Hat in Davol Square, Providence.
Membership for one year is $100 and includes admission to all monthly meetings. Non-members can attend individual meetings for $25. (There are no meetings in June, July and August.)
This year’s CCCP season begins on Sept 22nd with Photo Journalist, Francis Giles as guest.
