This week’s issue includes the 13th edition of our Best Places To Work special section, a recognition of the companies that perform their best by taking great care of their employees.
The section speaks for itself, as did the celebration event, held June 14, when more than 700 people had a great time while acknowledging the enterprises that have created and maintained workplaces that engage and energize the people who are employed there.
But just as important, the winners speak to the community at large. Time after time in the applications for the program, as well as in the answers to PBN’s questions for the special section, the chosen companies pointed to the importance of corporate culture to their success.
It’s not about having a rah-rah atmosphere so much as it is about internalizing the norms of behavior and expectations that serve customers well, while creating a collaborative and respectful workplace.
If all Rhode Island’s workplaces could create just such atmospheres, the Ocean State would find itself performing at a much higher level.
