CVS settles suit with ACLU R.I. chapter

PROVIDENCE – CVS Caremark Corp. has resolved a discrimination complaint over a pre-hiring questionnaire, The Associated Press reported last week.
The Rhode Island chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union said the matter was settled voluntarily.
The ACLU filed a complaint with the R.I. Commission for Human Rights claiming an online questionnaire used by the Woonsocket-based company could discriminate against applicants with social anxiety, attention-deficit-hyperactivity disorder and other mental conditions, the AP said.
The ACLU says CVS agreed to remove problematic questions and reimburse $6,750 in legal fees. CVS Caremark Vice President for Diversity David Casey said in a statement that CVS is “pleased to resolve this matter.”
Additionally, the ACLU says the parties agreed the settlement does not constitute an admission by CVS of any wrongdoing or unlawful conduct. &#8226
