Representatives of CVS Caremark Corp. and its CVS/pharmacy division were recently joined by members of the ALS Therapy Alliance, ALS patients and supporters to celebrate the 10th annual CVS/pharmacy Researching a Cure campaign in a pregame ceremony at Fenway Park. This year, the campaign raised more than $4.3 million to support ALS research.
Among the attendees were ALS patients Treg Charlton, regional director of real estate for CVS Caremark and campaign co-chair; Barry Winovich, campaign co-chair; and former NFL player Kevin Turner. Celebrity sponsor and country-music singer Ty Herndon was also on hand for the ceremony.
“The support of CVS/pharmacy is extraordinary,” said Dr. Robert Brown, president of ALS Therapy Alliance. “To my knowledge, no other corporation has ever provided such remarkable support for research to understand and cure ALS.”
“The efforts of CVS/pharmacy are exemplary and unprecedented; all of us in ALS research are indebted to them for all that they have done,” Brown said. •
