Darcy E. DaCosta

When not closing multimillion dollar gaming deals, participating in the CVS Downtown 5k Race, or working for any of the numerous community organizations she volunteers with, Darcy E. DaCosta finds time to serve as a team mom and assistant coach for the Warren Little League.
“My commitment to volunteerism was fostered at an early age by mother, who volunteered for various organizations and with whom I used to tag along,” DaCosta wrote in her 40 Under Forty application.
After attending Rhode Island College, DaCosta joined GTECH in 1995, rising swiftly from deputy director of government relations to senior account director 15 years later. In her current position, DaCosta works with customers to determine what they need and what GTECH can offer.
DaCosta recently worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue to introduce a multibillion dollar gaming system to monitor all slot machine activities. She also worked with the West Virginia Lottery, receiving a $40 million contract in 2008 following a competitive procurement process in which GTECH received the highest technical score. Over the course of her career, she has worked on more than 60 initiatives.
Since moving to Warren, DaCosta has become an active volunteer with Warren Fire’s Engine 4, organizing its annual charity raffle each summer. She is also a member of the Bristol-Warren Schools’ Parent Organization, where she works on numerous school activities and fundraising campaigns. She previously served as the chairwoman of the Cultural Enrichment Committee, and continues to help organize various programs, including Reading Week, during which the committee brings in authors and illustrators to read to the children.
During the holiday season, DaCosta adopts two girls in need from her community to “be sure that Santa will come on Christmas morning.” •
