How do you think COVID-19 will change your industry going forward? Telemedicine is now an available option for treating patients and I believe this has allowed for practitioners and patients to connect and follow up in ways that were never available previously. It is definitely a step in the right direction in being able to deliver health care and is here to stay.

What is the best advice you have ever received? You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Continuing to make an impact for patients with inflammatory bowel disease through research and teaching, and a leader in the field of medicine in Rhode Island.

What was your first job? Ice hockey referee.

What moment changed your life more than any other? Meeting my wife and all the adventures (kids) and experiences that have followed.

What is your favorite Rhode Island food or drink? You can never go wrong with Seven Stars. Love it!

What does winning this award mean to you? A wonderful acknowledgement of my hard work and dedication and speaks to my desire to continue to make a meaningful impact during my career.
