Dr. Suzanne Mello-Stark is Chair of the Computer Science and Information Systems Department at Rhode Island College. Under her leadership, the department now hosts a cybersecurity major and minor and an AI major and minor (Fall 2024). Her research includes election security and cybersecurity education. She initiated a software package used by the Rhode Island Board of Elections to pilot a risk-limiting audit. For nearly a decade, she has received funding from the National Security Agency (NSA) to maintain GenCyber, a summer program that reaches high school students from around the country and has become a vibrant community for those interested in pursuing careers in cybersecurity.

Learn MoreDr. Mello-Stark has more than 20 years of experience in the corporate world. She worked as a product manager and a software engineer at Lucent, Ascend, Stratus, GTE, and Raytheon. She proudly serves on the leadership team of the Institute for Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies at RIC and is a member of LeadershipRI 2024.
