How do you think COVID-19 will change your industry going forward? COVID-19 will definitely encourage people to wear masks more often. There will be a greater push for telemedicine and remote monitoring in the outpatient setting. There will also be better disaster preparedness and development of local supply chain sources.

What was your first job? Research assistant at a university developing software algorithms for use by nonphysician care providers ranging from astronauts in deep-space missions to community health workers in developing countries.

What moment changed your life more than any other? Coming to the United States. It opened up so many opportunities and I have met so many incredible people and mentors along the way.

What is your greatest attribute that you bring to your job? My compassion, curiosity and commitment to make sure my patients get the best care.

What is your favorite Rhode Island food or drink? Lobster roll.

What are you looking forward to doing again the most post-pandemic? Traveling around the world.

What does winning this award mean to you? It gives me confidence and reinforces what I’m already doing. It motivates me to do even better.
