Where could the jokes begin?
They are experienced, seasoned, wizened even. But this is not a joking matter.
What they really are is accomplished, needed and relevant. They are the first class in a new Providence Business News recognition program, the 25 Over Fifty-five.
The inaugural event, held Aug. 22, brought together many of the region’s most visible business leaders. But also seen were many of the women and men who take care of the details that matter when they matter.
Take Maria Ducharme, for instance. The chief nursing officer at The Miriam Hospital, Ms. Ducharme has worked at the hospital for more than three decades, during which time it has gone from being a moderately sized institution of quality to what many believe is the state’s best hospital.
Without her innovative and patient-focused leadership, The Miriam likely would not have received a prestigious nursing excellence award five times in the last two decades, something only four other hospitals in the nation have accomplished.
Can’t wait to see next year’s class of highest achievers.
