PROVIDENCE, RI, September 28, 2011—The Federal Hill Commerce Association (FHCA) will hold its annual Columbus Day Feast and Festival on October 8, 9, and 10 on Atwells Avenue in Providence. The event includes food, rides, games, and live entertainment. The Driftwoods band will make a special guest appearance. Grand opening ceremonies start at noon on Saturday, October 8, at DePasquale Square. The Columbus Day parade will be held on October 9. This year the FHCA will present John Lombardi with its Man of the Year award for his years of service as Ward 13’s councilman. Alex and Ani, which manufactures eco-friendly jewelry from recycled materials, is the festival’s presenting sponsor.
The Columbus Day festival includes music throughout performed by a wide variety of entertainers including Ambrosiani, Tribeca, Reminisce, Robert Black Band, the Calamari Brothers, Ernie Tridenti, and Dominic DePasquale. The groups will appear on stages at three locations on Atwells Avenue. The main stage will be at DePasquale Square, with a second stage at the corner of Sutton Street and Atwells and a third stage at the corner of Dean Street and Atwells.

Lombardi was a councilman from 1984 until 2010. A former mayor of Providence, he graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1970, earned a Bachelor of Arts from Rhode Island College in 1975 and a Masters in secondary education in 1982. He graduated from Suffolk University of Law with his law degree in 1987.
