FM Global recognized as one of top 50 performers

JOHNSTON – FM Global has been named one of the nation’s top 50 performing property-casualty insurers, according to Ward Group, a benchmarking and best-practices provider for the insurance industry.
“FM Global is recognized for achieving outstanding financial results in the areas of safety, consistency and performance over a five-year period [2002-2006],” Jeffrey Reider, the Ward Group’s president, said in announcing the honor.
Companies that are listed on the Ward 50 – now in its 17th year – had an average return on equity of 17.8 percent for the period, while the total industry averaged 12.3 percent.
Operating in Rhode Island for more than 170 years, FM Global has just been ranked again by Providence Business News as Rhode Island’s largest private company, with 2006 gross premiums of $4.3 billion.
FM Global has offices in more than 100 countries and employs 4,700 people worldwide, including 1,700 in its offices in Johnston and Glocester, R.I., and Norwood and Waltham, Mass.
