FM Global’s Kerr honored

JOHNSTON – Ellen Kerr, an engineering manager at FM Global, has been named a “Woman to Watch” by Business Insurance magazine.
Vice president of FM Global’s Western division, Kerr was one of 25 women highlighted earlier this month by the magazine for “doing outstanding work in commercial insurance industry.”
Rhode Island-based FM Global, one of the world’s largest business property insurers, said she was selected because of her recent professional achievements, influence on the marketplace and contributions to the advancement of women in business.
Kerr joined FM Global in 1986 as a loss-prevention engineer in the company’s Chicago-based operations after earning her bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University.
Since then, she has fulfilled roles as senior account engineer, group manager of field engineering and assistant vice president, group manager of account engineering.
Previously, Kerr was a property conservation engineer for six years at Sara Lee Corp.
Additionally, Kerr serves on the Corporate Planning Council of the Society of Women Engineers and has held several officer roles for the Chicago Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
