Business Women Awards 2022
Woman to Watch Creative Services Kimberly Fraser, International Game Technology PLC
Kimberly Fraser joined International Game Technology PLC as an intern over 11 years ago. She is now senior manager of global communications at the entertainment and gaming company, where she’s responsible for the creation and distribution of key messages.
Fraser continues to be excited and enthusiastic about her experience. “I’ve been able to come up through the ranks,” she said. “There are always new opportunities and chances to do new things.”
A team player, Fraser enjoys collaborating with others from different backgrounds.
After two years of working remotely, she’s glad to be back in the office interacting with colleagues.
“I enjoy the unexpected conversations that pop up with people in the hallway,” she said. “I get a lot of business done that way.”
Fraser credits her success with two of her personal strengths: adaptability and vulnerability.
“Most people in communications are able to adapt quickly and be flexible,” she said. “For me, every day is something new and it really keeps me on my toes.”
That flexibility has led to her recognition as a visible leader at IGT, which is based in London but has offices in Providence.
“I also know that it’s good to be a little vulnerable, although it’s not always easy,” she said.
Fraser recognizes the importance of giving and receiving support from her peers, particularly through IGT’s Women’s Inclusion Network.
“The Women’s Network is a great resource,” she said. “We hold a monthly coffee chat that provides an open forum to talk about everything from work to our home lives.”
Outside of the office, Fraser is committed to building and promoting the field of communications in her role as treasurer of the Southeastern New England Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She has been involved with the organization for many years.
Fraser is also a 2016 graduate of Leadership Rhode Island and is still involved with the organization, connecting and mentoring others toward success. She credits that experience with helping her better identify and define her skills and talents.
One of those strengths is her infectious enthusiasm. When faced with a challenge, she is ready to dive right in.
“Put on that hat and let’s go,” she said. “Strap on your seatbelt.”
